Restoration

The health of the ecosystems in our region begins with healthy watersheds, which are the result of an intact, natural hydrologic cycle.  Traditionally, urban land development activities have disrupted the natural hydrologic cycle, and it is the cumulative impact of these disruptions which ultimately results in degraded watersheds. Healthy watersheds in Pennsylvania begin in the forest.

Working with community volunteers from businesses, schools, and other local groups, GVWA’s Watershed Restoration Program introduces citizens to the issues facing our ecosystems and the solutions we can embrace to solve them, creating informed advocates for watershed health as well as fostering and spreading a sense of environmental stewardship.
